Description

    The Hazardous Products Act and its regulations are administered by the Government of Canada Department of Health, commonly referred to as Health Canada. Supplier labelling and MSDS requirements are set out under the Hazardous Products Act and associated Controlled Products Regulations. This one-hour course covers information required through coordinated federal, provincial and territorial legislation. This course will acquaint you with the precautions that Canadian employees and employers must take in order to safely use, handle, and dispose of hazardous chemicals in the workplace. The intent of the information in this course is to help prevent/minimize employee exposures to the materials and minimize accidental releases of the material to the work environment. The content in this course is designed to comply with the intent of the applicable regulatory requirements and is presented using Canadian English. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
  • identify the routes of chemical entry into the body
  • define various categories of chemical hazards
  • interpret warning labels
  • identify information commonly found in a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
  • identify controls commonly used to reduce or eliminate contact with hazardous materials in the workplace
